I found myself “doom scrolling” through social media, intrigued by reels titled, “I died at __ age but I once was…” The reel then slowly shows the celebrity at an old age, counting back, showing physical as well as career highlights. As humans, it is natural, as we age, to look back on our life. The highs and lows. The mountaintops, as well as the valleys.
As Christians, though, our gaze is ever forward. At a point in time, you confessed your sins and professed faith in your Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. From that moment on, you became a new creation. With a new heart. A new desire. A new attitude. The Holy Spirit now resides in you, opening your eyes daily to new truths you discover about God in your daily bible studies. As time moves forward, you too, move forward. Ever learning, ever trusting Jesus more and more each day. We can say, “I once was ___, but praise God, I am now His!” As the song resounds in our hearts, “Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found, was blind but now I see.”
Ephesians 2:4-7 “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— 6 and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”
