Lists

“A life spent in the service of God and in communion with Him is the most comfortable and pleasant life that anyone can live in this present world.” Matthew Henry

Lists for work. Lists for shopping. Lists for activities. Lists keep us organized, focused, scheduled. I make lists. I cross out completed tasks. It helps me remember what I need to do to get things done, to accomplish the task. As I age, I find if I don’t write it down, mark it on my calendar or schedule it in my calendar app, I will forget it.

Lists are helpful in our Christian walk, as well. We have upcoming events scheduled, meals to prepare for a loved one, classes to teach, friends to visit. God expects us to work in service for Him, to further His kingdom. As we serve others, we are serving God. Let’s not be so focused on the lists, though, that in serving God, we miss the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do and He will show you which path to take.”
