Mowing the grass. My twin sister and I began mowing the grass for my dad years ago. With a push mower. With slight hills. We did not mind doing this. We enjoyed being outside. Once married, I continued to help my husband with yard work, including mowing the grass. As our children grew, they took over the weekly mowing. Now, it’s just the two of us again. I am helping with yard work, with mowing the grass. Thankfully, it is now a self-propelled mower. Lawn mowing has a progression.
Push mower—> self-propelled—> riding lawnmower
Being outside, in the heat, I am reminded I am not as young as I once was. I am accepting, that as I age, there are some physical limitations I must adhere to. I am okay with that. Aging, as a Christian, has its own progression.
Youthful believer—> student of the word—> mature faithful walk
Ephesians 4:11-13: “Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.”
