Slow to hear. Slow to move. Quick to listen. A little play on the “slow to speak…” verse in James 1:19. As we age, our hearing is not what it once was. Our walk is slower, more deliberate. But as we age, we have been granted wisdom so as we do listen to others, let us continue to be slow to speak. Allow God’s truths to guide our speech. Just as we move in to hear, are more deliberate in our steps, let us listen with years of experience and maturation. We may be getting older, but we are still called to be used for God in His kingdom. So let us be “vital, full of sap, fresh and flourishing” even into our old age.
